The Geo-Cached boxes, or the ARG aspect, is a new plot forwarding device not seen in any other media. For those of you that don't know, ARG stands for Alternate Reality Game, meaning the series itself. The boxes are typical cached across the USA and the coordinates are given away during the series, always letting the fans in the area seek them out. Some boxes have been sent to recipients, others have been found following instructions. The boxes typically contain important objects, just as letters and symbols. They are usually covered, partially, in purple tape and odd quotes. The general consensus is that HABIT sends the boxes out, each one with a numerical value and all containing an “x/7” note somewhere.
The boxes are necessarily the only ARG Aspects of the series, as there are also letters and so on.
So far, 6 out of the 7 boxes have been retrieved, as well as some letters and a bag. This post with contain my notes on the boxes and the bag, though NOT the Christmas letter, as this falls under the Corenthal Letter section.
Box 1
The first part of the coordinates (40 18.310, -074 41.097) were released during the slush-pops and surprises video, as the odd “birthday” card stuck to the window. The second part were posted as a picture on Damsel's blog. The first box was found by TheGreenFeathers on 11/JUL/11. The exterior of the box was littered with odd words and phrases, listed below, sourced from the EMH wiki:

The Box contained various cast photos from a day in the life, last seen in the hand of Evan (coincidence?) and are in the same condition when seen then. It also contains another common hallmark of the boxes, a single piece of folded paper, baring a quote. This quote reads: "Consider this a place of refuge, not from the waters, but from damnation."
during the meeting TheGreenFeathers had later with the group, they did ask him about the box, though were glad he did not bring it to the meeting.
The quotes on the box are typical of the slenderman mythos, though the rick-tick-ticketing quote arises in later videos, when the black box machine goes off.
The quote could be a link to the ARK, or the candleverse, though no specific reference has been noted yet, apart from the “waters” part possibly being a reference to the water based video clips in the “xxof76” series, as well as the Morse videos.
Box 2
Found at N 40 15 44.57, W -074 38 52.94, by Quiddler on the SA forums, following the picture on Damsel's blog containing the coordinates.
This box contained an odd bauble type ornament, showing a black bird silhouette on one side, and HABIT written on the other. An everymanHYBRID business card was also found, with the writing scratched out, and a slenderman sketched in the side of the card. There was also a piece of paper with a printed quote “time and space flee every which way, disregarding your beloved logic.”.
The was found with purple tape wrapped around it, holding bubble wrap to it.
This box does have writing on the outside, though less than the previous box:
- BOARDING PASS
- YOU KNOW WHERE
- ONE IN THE SAMEx
the quotes do not seem to have any specific meaning at this point, though it does allude to the fact that the group know more than they are letting on, and that they are omitting or choosing not to acknowledge a certain fact or place. The last quote, “ONE IN THE SAMEx” could be a reference to Twin Peaks, being the final words spoken by the giant while in the black lodge, though it is not likely. The meaning behind the quote in Twin Peaks was that a character had a doppelgänger, which was the same as them and they did not know about it. This could be very similar to the Evan/HABIT situation, whereby it is likely that is Evan is HABIT, in one way or form, then he is not aware of it. Other than that, there is little we can determine from this box at this point.
Box 3
this box was found at N 40.301407, W -074.873561, which is near to Baldpate Mountain, the hiking trail. The coordinates were found in the dead girl's note from Cops Checked, No Body. The box was found by Unforum member FlyingWarhorse and his wife. The finding of the box was uploaded to youtube in a series of 5 videos, found after Welcome To The ARK in the suggested viewing order. The contents of the box were fairly standard in line with the boxes.
The contents include a EMH business card with “FEED THE HABIT” written on the reverse side, 3 cut burned and defaced pictures, a piece of paper with an encoded message (decoded on the Unforum into "The Good doctor is not so lucky as to be dead. Just dealing with some old habits." ), another piece of paper with the typical quote on ("There is no veiling your perception as anything more than illusion." ) and 3/7 marked at the bottom, and finally a two page report filled by Dr Corenthal alluding to the identity of HABIT.
This box starts off the theory that Evan is HABIT, by proving that the past version of Evan went by the nickname HABIT. Since each of the crew, and Steph, have a past version that was treated by Corenthal, it is likely that they run along the same course of events, or the same issues. For more information on the letter, and a transcript, please see the Corenthal Letters section of this blog, uploaded along with this entry. I could go into details here, but I would just be repeating myself, and out of context.
The coded message is significant, as the doctor is known to be dead, but this quote states that he is not. It seems that he is either trying to stop HABIT, by either working against him, or he may even be an unwilling assistant to HABIT, possibly part of his experiments. On a darker note, it should be noted that he is “not as lucky as to be dead” meaning that he could be alive in a horrific state, something he would hate. Something that is evil. Something that does the bidding of HABIT. Maybe even something called, the rake. It may be possible that Corenthal lost his battle to HABIT, and was turned into the rake to do HABIT's bidding, unwilling but without a choice. Though there is little evidence to support this as this point, it is worth keeping that in mind.
The photos are from a day in the life, though there is one picture of Evan and Jeff sitting on a sofa, Jeff’s eyes blacked out, as well as Evan's but Evan has a joker style smile black on as well. Jeff is also holding a shotgun. This photo also has a quote written over it three times “THE WORDS”.
The Bag
previously thought to be Box 4, this was found at N 40 53.879, W -075 45.726 by Unforum member ladymatsuya and friends on 30/OCT/10, following the coordinates printed on a business card in Alex's video “business cards on a plane”.
The bag was closed at the top by use of purple tape, and bared no quotes on the outside, much like the previous box. The bag contained a 32oz bottle of Mountain Blue Berry Blast Powerade, a red stained (possible blood) envelope to Linnie with “find them everymanHYBRID” on the reverse. The envelope contained the letter to Linnie and some water damaged Corenthal letters. The Corenthal letter can be found on the Corenthal letter segment, while the letter to Linnie is found below. The transcript is sourced from the EMH wiki (http://everymanhybrid.wikia.com/wiki/Transcript:_William%27s_Bag_Letter);
Linnie,
I hope this letter reaches you before you reach that group. Someone sent me this letter...this worries me. Please contact me before you talk to them. The letter's attached.
The meaning behind this letter seems to imply danger, either of the events surrounding the group, or the group themselves. See the Corenthal letters segment for further details. Again, I would only be repeating myself.
Box 4
this box was mailed to rabbit #098 as a prize for winning the first trial. The box contained more Corenthal letters and the second piece of the Centralia note. It also contained the hat last seen worn by Alex in business cards on a plane. The box was wrapped in purple tape, and had deep scratches and holes in it, as well as a single word scratched into it: HABIT.
Once again, see the Corenthal letters segment for the details on those, but I will review the Centralia note here.
The Centralia note is a single note made up of 4 different parts, each part contributing to the overall meaning, while having no meaning on their own.
The note was found in Centralia, and locked away with other Corenthal letters, while this note was not revealed to us, only mentioned. The note was said to have been shredded by rats, in a tweet from Jeff, while it was most likely the rake, as it was in Alex’s room during the rakes reign.
Various parts of the note were later found, firstly in the taking it back video where they take back Alex’s room. Box 4 held another piece, then Noah, from Tribe Twelve, had the next piece mailed to him in an envelope, baring a purple tape cross. The letter is speculated to read:
"shade's
password to the
unrel[iable or unrelated] narra[tor]."
Box 6 held the final piece, confirming the speculation, and also had a hand written note “+133”. HABIT then tweeted the password protected files, the first of which being called DUBIOUS.rar and unlocked with the password PITY133, meaning that the original answer to the note is PITY.
Oddly enough, the file is a minecraft level when unzipped, and bares a sign saying “GOOD LUCK RABBITS”. Later in a level a sign was found reading "THIS PLACE IS YOUR TOMB PASSWORD: x8162005." using this password, the second file was unlocked. This second file is a PDF of another set of Corenthal letters. Again, the letters are noted elsewhere on the blog to save on repetition.
It is now clear that this was all a very long way of releasing the Corenthal letters, involving a lot of research and interactivity.
Box 5
this box was fully released by HABIT, with no allusion to any contrary theories. HABIT firstly tweeted “WE HAVEN'T HAD ANY REAL FUN IN A WHILE, HAVE WE.” he then followed up with the coordinates for box 5 "41.121226, -75.321847 MAKE HASTE, RABBITS."
the box was quite a bit larger than the others, looking like a suitcase and covered in purple tape again, forming the EMH logo.
The contents were numerous and listed below:
- a machete with a purple taped handle
- a trash bag taped shut contained a copy of “EVERYMAN and other Miracle and Morality plays” which had papers stapled inside with hand written annotations.
- Several toy cold coins
- Corenthal letters
- and 3 matchbox cars, possibly belonging to 3 members of the “mining town four”
the back of the cards had the names of the series main characters, some having extra details on the front. The below is sourced from the EMH wiki:
Jeff (Jack of Hearts, with a broken heart drawn on)
- Evan (The Jack of Spades with a dagger and hatchet drawn in)
- Vince (Jack of Clubs with a large eye symbol drawn on)
- Steph (Queen of Clubs, face scratched out)
- Man (King of Diamonds)
- Doc (Ace of Hearts)
- HABIT (Joker, with a smiley face drawn on)
obviously these bare some judgements on the character of the various individuals, the drawn on hatchet and dagger onto Evan's card indicates his love of knifes, and HABIT being the joker is quite just really. It is odd that Jeff is not listed here, only “Man”, meaning that it may be possible that Jeff is either killed off later, or that he is not a part of the major series of events. With Vince and Steph being on the cards, it is now clear that Steph aka Damsel is part of the series, and completes the “mining town four”.
The board game is more interesting though, containing more quotes and clues. EVERYMAN is a medieval play classed as a “morality play”, the story centres around Christian salvation and what man must to do attain it. The entire book is allegorical, and follows the premise that all deeds, good and bad, are tallied by god in a ledger. It follows the deeds of EVERYMAN who represents all mankind. All characters are also allegorical personifying abstract ideas such as fellowship, goods and knowledge.
The dramatis personae of the play also has some characters hand written in, the guardian, the firebrand, and the voyeur.
For full details, see this link containing all the quotes:
the added characters seem to represent the EMH crew, and while I cannot determine who Vince and Jeff would be, I do reckon that Evan is firebrand, due to the quote on page 39. this shows his liking to violence, as well as the quotes on pages 45 and 47, showing that Evan has an inner conflict, possibly HABIT, and that eventually HABIT will either leave him or kill him. The guardian could be Jeff due to the quotes on pages 41 and 49, firstly showing that he will, and has, lost his heart, meaning JessA, and that he will defy HABIT, in this case, and he may be killed off later on.
There for the voyeur would be Vince.
I should mention that I made these decisions on my own, only to see that im not the only one to believe this. According to speculation, the page 43 quote seems to indicate that Vince is hiding something from the others.
The final quotes do not mean the earth, only the world in with the crew inhabit, their iteration. This may only be a theory at the moment, but the quotes could allude to the ending of their current iteration, and that it is already ending. The washing away of the ash also shows a link between the land of ashen waste, Centralia. The original mining town four were from Centralia, but when the fire broke out, they were sent to the Fairmont Childrens Home, only to be taken in by Corenthal.
The final quote has also been tweeted by HABIT. The box could be Corenthal's trunk.
This is pretty much all the important details contained in the box, though there is further speculation to be found.
Box 6
this box has quite a bit to go along with it. It was originally said to have been sent to rabbit #052. the videos concerning #052 are on the suggested viewing order. The problem came with trial 6 from THESEVENTRIALSOFHABIT, whereby #052 needed a permit to complete the task and therefore could not complete, though he still wanted in on the trials. #052 then used the box to blackmail HABIT, stating that he would not publicly open the box unless he was put through to trial 7. he was later attacked by the rake, and his room mate abducted. #052 then admitted that he never had the box, and he threw himself on the vote of the remaining 7 rabbits, asking them to determine whether or not he should stayed. He was eliminated after a vote of 6/1.
rabbit #228 was then emailed by HABIT as to whether they could take on the box, to which they agreed.
Then a mystery occurred, rabbit #228 did not receive the box, rabbit #108 did instead, receiving it one day after her 17th birthday. Why this occurred has not been revealed yet. The box was typically wrapped in purple tape, with a quote written on one side. “17 on the 14th”, referring to #108 who turned 17 on the 14th the day before she received the box. Below it was two other quotes “NOT ON THE” and “ENJOY YOURSELF ON YOUR SPECIAL DAY”.
The box contains Evan's bioshock 2 shirt, seen on him in the video, Alex. It also contained a silver rabbit necklace and the fourth piece of the Centralia note.
The Tribe Twelve Letter
the latest segment in this little saga, as we await the finding of 7th box. This letter was sent to Noah at tribe twelve, and while listed in the EMH suggested viewing order, it originally aired on the Tribe Twelve page.
The letter also caries the typical mark, the purple tape cross.
The letter contained several pieces.
- A picture of Milo, Noah's cousin, with his mother and Corenthal, only their faces are black out, and a slenderman has been drawn to the right of them.
- A burned Corenthal letter, detailing Milo's time in his care.
- A piece of the Centralia note
- and a screen grab of a TT video, with some quotes on it:
- “we're all just creatures of” [HABIT] not part of the quote, but definitely the last part of it.
- “NOT AN OBSERVER”
- “JUST AN OLD CONNECTION”
- “YOURS”
the quotes are quite important, they show a clear link between the series, as well as the mining town four and Milo. This could also show that HABIT was a part of Milo's past and that there is the possibility that the two series will soon be closely linked. It may also be possible that Milo was killed by HABIT, and though no link has been made yet, but the Observer may be in league or in competition with HABIT.
This is another WHAM episode here, where the link between two major series is forged and confirmed.
