lately their upload schedule has been slow and painful, to the point where many have simply given up.
it is true that busy social and accademic lives have prevailed against the series, and that OOG forces and proven to be more powerful, but is this simply a ruse to make up for their troll like behaviour.
reading this blog will let anyone know how much i adore the series, but even i am becoming a little irritated with the uploads.
well, maybe not irritated, maybe more, confused.
EverymanHYBRID looks set to become another channel filled with a series of plot points that never reach fruition. with a new upload every 5-6 weeks, the schedule is becoming stretched as it is. but the fact that the latest two updates have been uploaded by HABIT (seemingly anyways) it is fair to say that the group are trying to draw viewers back in. viewers that they have lost.
the latest updates have given us alot of new plot points to consider, but they have not elaborated on many older plot points. what happened to Corenthal? the mining town four? HABIT and his trials? exactly, nothing. they just faded into obscurity. the series seems to be in his autumn years, and i fear that the creators may even see fit to simply abandon it, finding that it has grown too large for them.
as far as we are concerned, there has been no update from the group since a halloween tweet, though even this was not serious. no relevant contact has been made at all, and their In-Game characters do not have a reason for this break. especially after what we have seen from the HABIT videos.
the schedule they are using seems to use a monopoly chart thing that i saw on Tumblr, and sadly i saw it to be true. by keeping the amount of uploads down, they are decreasing the consumer surplus and therefore, theoretically, increasing the value of new uploads.
but this is a dangerous game. with so many channels at the moment on break, there is room for new series to squeeze through the cracks, even take over from the made 3. Tribe Twelve has been fairly empty for some time, and Marble Hornets is on its series break. MLAndersen0 is updating slowly, but it's content is still intriging. and while people dont like to admit to it, TJA is finished, with the sequel yet to fully begin.
EMH seems to be waiting until the last possible moment before uploading. they wait and wait until it seems they are forgotten, then upload with an entry so packed full of seemingly meaningless information that the internet explodes with specualtion. then after a week or two of discussion, we are left waiting for the next update. but it doe not come. not when we need it. not when it should arrive. according to data i worked out on my ipod, the series was producing a new entry every 13 days. this is a very steady schedule, and allows for intrigue to build and the mind to really settle on the facts. but they have since abandoned all of this, and gone for new, cheap tactics. something that people will grow bored with.
i hate to say it, but i do not believe we will see EMH in all its glory again. we have had the golden age, and we are left with the dregs. i foresee two scenarios.
1: i am correct, and after several cryptic and dull uploads from HABIT, we are "treated" to a messy and unsatisfying ending to this once perfect series.
2: i am wrong, and the group are able to drum out a perfectly rational reason for their silence, and they resume the series as it once was.
i cannot tell you how much i wish the latter would happen, though the former seems all too likely.
it is with a great deal of sadness that i watch the old videos now. i remember the good times of the frequent uploads, the massive speculation, the plot details that flowed but were so elusive. the days when the series was in full flow. it is so sad to see this ended.
this all may just seem like me throwing my toys out of the pram and throwing a tamtrum because of the lack of uploads, but i think this needs to be recorded. the slow decline of the series.
perhaps they choose to draw this part out, for some greater purpose, or perhaps they simply want to coast for a while, before they can fully resume.
but i fear it may have come down to an issue of arrogance. they have grown self aware of their fame, and have thus decided that they can upload what they want, when they want, and they will still be loved.
and this is a very dangerous game.
for i once loved this series, above all others. but now i feel left alone.
if EMH was a party, then the early series was the pre-party drinks, with the mid-series becominng and epic night out. i fear we are left with the aftermath, the cleaning up and the slowing down. the loss of the buzz. and the morning after is yet to come, the realisation of the damage done, and the repairs that need to be carried out.
i loved you EverymanHYBRID, but it seems you no longer love your fans. if you are content to simply coast on these uploads, then it may be the end of this relationship.
and after everything i have written here, as much as it all sounds so aggressive and spiteful, i really do admire the series, and i cannot tell you how much i want to be wrong. how much i want the series to catch a second wind. how much i want them to return, guns blazing, and dazzle us all over again.
so keep that in mind when you read this. this is the worst part of my opinion, and to be taken with a pinch of salt.
i really do love this series, and i hate to bare witness to this slump. i have expressed my love for this series openly, and on more than one occasion. but even i must admit that it is deteriorating.
but it is a fact that many others love this series, that that any word against it or its creators is never taken with any objectivity. even saying this is playing a dangerous game, but then again, i wouldnt be the only one, would i?
